- Network Engineer -
Responsibilities include:
· Architecturally design, plan, develop and document enterprise class data and voice network communications related services and to meet agreed functional and non-functional specifications.
· Technically lead and monitor one or more major projects for network communications related work or services.
· Undertake analysis of IT related business needs, technical evaluations, investigative and report work.
· Provide strategic direction for the network communication environments, and support the broader IT Strategy Architect role.
· Compliance with Department and Organization Procedures associated with the procurement, development, maintenance and security of IT related services and projects.
· Specify and recommend new network communications related services and projects and amendments to existing IT solutions and services
· Technically plan and implement activities to ensure successful delivery of projects and services, including the execution and documentation of testing to required standards.
· Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components.
· Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
· Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
· Develop and implement policies, procedures, and associated training for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
· Undertake support activities as required to ensure continued delivery of the IT Network Service.
· Research and recommend the technical selection, design, build and implementation of major services across the data, voice and mobile networks.
· Maintain layer 3 Cisco networks, IPVPN, MPLS, VoIP, WiFi and network security.
I am a core contributor to the IT Infrastructure Services team responsible for designing, implementing and supporting the network infrastructure at Alabama Department of Transportation.
I have worked with a broad range of Networking technologies, network security, firewalls, VPN and Intrusion detection, LAN, WAN, MAN and cloud connectivity. - Computer Programmer -
Managed a development team through the design and development of many comprehensive sets of applications for financial management, and control of Inventory, Central Product Management, Demand Requirements Processing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchase Orders Order Processing, and General Ledger using Progress versions 6.3 through OpenEdge 10.
Performed database administration for structure changes and code conversion through each version upgrade of Progress.
Modified existing database and code for year 2000 to ensure business continuance.
Developed applications for management and reporting of Human Resource Management requirements utilizing Microsoft Access, Excel, with Visual Basic for Applications.
Experienced in Importing and Exporting of data from various databases for business and reporting purposes.
Installed and configured systems for entire company with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Windows, and Windows Servers.
Responsible for determining need, evaluating offerings, implementing and managing outsourced services when necessary for Information Technology related requirements.
Fifteen plus years of experience managing a large ERP Application, developing add-on modules to provide Point-of-Sale operations, Central Warehouse/Central Product Management functions for inventory requirements management of multiple entities, and Transportation Handling/Management, and A/P matching with product and freight variance reporting capabilities.
